2021 Vice Versa Cabernet Sauvignon
Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer GIII Vineyard comes from a famous site in Rutherford and is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon raised 18 months in 90% new barrels. This site never seems to yield the biggest or richest wines in a vintage (although it's a large site, and there are exceptions), and this plays right down the middle with its full-bodied yet balanced, elegant, ultra-classic style. Gorgeous red and black fruits, spicy oak, savory herbs, and smoked tobacco all define the aromatics, and I love its overall balance as well as silky tannins. It actually has some up-front appeal, but I'd still hide bottles for 4-5 years if you can. It will unquestionably see its 30th birthday in fine form.

Menthol, dusty earth and black cherries all come together seamlessly on the nose of the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard. Nicely smooth and plush in the mouth, this medium to full-bodied effort is wonderfully harmonious and elegant, with a long-lingering finish. – JC
