A muscular and savoury Napa Cabernet showcasing crunchy black cherry fruit, grilled meats, and new suede leather. Full-bodied with sweet, sappy tannins and spiced plums with an intensely meaty savouriness that lingers through the finish of black olives and liquorice. Aged for 20 months in 50% new French Oak. Co-founder Mario Bazan grew up in Oaxaca, Mexico, moved to the United States in 1973 and worked as a labourer at Joseph Phelps and Robert Mondavi and later Stag's Leap Wine Cellars. In 1997, he launched his own vineyard management company. Winemaker Kian Tavakoli has worked for Opus One and Clos du Val. – JC
