2021 Memento Mori Cabernet Sauvignon
Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard
The Wine Advocate 96 Points
January 2024

From a low-yielding vineyard block planted to clone 6, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard nicely captures the essence of St. Helena's warmth and ripeness, reaching deep into the dark-berry spectrum and evoking hints of black cherries and cassis. The fruit comes through strongly, easily absorbing the abundant new oak used in the élevage. It's full-bodied, supple and even slightly creamy textured across the mid-palate, then simultaneously softly dusty and mouthwatering on the lingering finish. – JC

Showy and delightfully so, throwing off boysenberry, mulberry and blackberry puree flavors enlivened by licorice snap, bramble and violet notes. A gorgeous ganache accent is inlaid through the finish as the fruit courses through, with ample energy. This is hard to lay off already, but no rush at all. Drink now through 2042. 100 cases made. - J.M.
