2021 Carter Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon
Beckstoffer Bourn Vineyard

A killer wine as well as possibly the finest wine I've tasted from this vineyard, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Bourn Vineyard has a deep, full-bodied, layered style as well as beautiful notes of blue fruits (cassis, jammy blueberries), flowers, and spicy wood. I love its purity, and it has nicely integrated oak, no hard edges, and a great finish. Enjoy bottles over the coming 15+ years. – JD

Coming from a small vineyard in St. Helena, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Bourn Vineyard is equal parts Cabernet Franc and Merlot brought up in new barrels. It's another deep purple-hued beauty from Carter offering a pure, layered, full-bodied style as well as solid aromatics of red and black currants, smoked tobacco, loamy earth, chocolate, and hints of graphite. This charming, forward, sexy 2021 has terrific balance, good mid-palate depth, and ripe yet building tannins, all making for a terrific red that will evolve for two decades. This might be one of the finest wines I've tasted from this vineyard. – JD
