Wine reviews
This is packed with juicy boysenberry, raspberry and blackberry preserves carried by lightly brambly grip through the finish, which is accented by licorice and sweet toast. The fruit really lingers, too. Drink now through 2035. 300 cases made. – JM
Classic black cherries and cassis, with hints of sage and bay leaf, appear on the nose of the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard. Full-bodied, almost creamy, this wine boasts really lovely tannins, soft and enveloping, then long and plush on the finish. There's a bit of warmth and some vanilla, mocha and cedar inflections, but the wine isn't overly woody—the fruit really sings.
From a rocky site outside of St. Helena, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard has an exotic, incredibly perfumed and singular bouquet of red plums, redcurrants, candied orange, liquid violets, and spice. This carries to full-bodied, weightless beauty with silky tannins, flawless balance, and an awesome finish. This is pure magic in 2019 and a thrilling Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that readers should snatch up!
