2018 Memento Mori Cabernet Sauvignon
Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard
Wine Spectator 94 Points
October 2021

This packs in the typically vivid array of 2018 fruit, with raspberry, boysenberry and plum pâte de fruit notes steaming through, inlaid with red licorice and graphite and backed by a plush yet driven finish. Best from 2022 through 2036. 130 cases made. – JM

Coming all from clone 4 Cabernet, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Las Piedras Vineyard is another gorgeous wine in every sense. More red and black fruits, camphor, dried flowers, and tobacco define the bouquet, and it’s full-bodied and flawlessly balanced, with building yet ripe tannins and the purity and elegance that defines the 2018 vintage. It’s slightly more finesse-driven compared to the more overtly powerful Dr. Crane release, but it should evolve for just as long. – JD
