Composed of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard has a deep garnet-purple color. It bursts from the glass with vivacious notes of warm black plums, crème de cassis and blueberry compote with suggestions of iron ore, crushed rock and aniseed plus fragrant emerging wafts of cedar and roses. The medium to full-bodied palate has a solid core of muscular black fruits accented with beautiful floral and spice notes, supported by firm, grainy tannins and tons of freshness, finishing long and mineral laced. 147 cases were made. – LPB
Just about pure perfection, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard will stand up to anything coming out of this Grand Cru vineyard outside of St. Helena. Incredible crème de cassis, smoked earth, graphite, and tobacco define the bouquet, and it’s full-bodied, with a layered, multi-dimensional mouthfeel, perfect balance, and a finish that just won’t quit. Based on 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot aged 19 months in French oak, it’s a sensational 2018 readers should snatch up. – JD
