Wine reviews
A barrel sample (aging in 100% new French oak), the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard is deep purple-black colored and sings of red and black cherries, mulberries and redcurrant jelly with suggestions of roses, cinnamon stick, dusty soil, aniseed and iron ore. Medium to full-bodied, firm and chewy, with a seamless line of freshness, it has bags of energy and a long, spice-laced finish. To be released in the spring of 2019. – LPB
More crème de cassis, incense, cigar, white flowers, tobacco, and toasted bread notes dominate the nose of the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon, and it's a deep, powerful, concentrated expression of To Kolan that's going to need time. Nevertheless, it's full-bodied, beautifully balanced, and a remarkable wine. Give bottles 2-4 years and it will evolve for 20+ years. – JD
