Wine reviews
2017 Taub Family Vineyards
Cabernet Sauvignon
Beckstoffer
Georges III
Vineyard
From the famous site, this well-integrated wine offers wide appeal and an enduring plush, supple core of black fruit dusted in black pepper and close. The oak is toasted and present, emphasizing seasonings of clove and vanilla. – VB
This has an overt and fruit-forward profile, with a bum-rush of cassis, plum pâte de fruit and cherry compote flavors backed by melted licorice and fruitcake notes. Then the structure asserts itself on the finish, showing a toothy, brambly edge that wins on guts, but lacks refinement. The typical 2017 profile. Drink now through 2032. 247 cases made. – JM
