An opaque garnet-purple colored barrel sample, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard gives up pronounced fruitcake, raspberry preserves and kirsch scents with hints of stewed plums, Chinese five spice, oolong tea and sautéed herbs. The full-bodied palate is firm, chewy, a bit hard and rustic with a grippy finish. – LPB
