Wine reviews
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard The Grand Daddy reveals expressive notions of dried mulberries, warm cassis, plum preserves and kirsch with hints of spice cake, menthol, fallen leaves and mossy bark. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate with earth-laced black and blue fruits, framed by grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with a provocative perfume. – LPB
Another wine with some upside, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon The Grand Daddy comes all from the Clone 4 of Cabernet Sauvignon and a great, great valley floor site. It offers a more focused, chiseled, structured style than normal and has beautiful notes of blackcurrants, cassis, dark chocolate, graphite, and ample earthy minerality. It’s a rock star of a wine, yet 4-5 years of bottle age are warranted. – JD
