A barrel sample, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard is deep purple-black colored and gives up expressive notes of crème de cassis, raisin cake, Chinese five spice and dusty soil with a waft of garrigue and dried lavender. The palate is full-bodies, rich and lush with great acidity and a long, spicy finish. – LPB

This powerhouse of a wine is sweet in oak and burly tannin, with layers and layers of dense, chewy richness. The fruit is jammy and velvety in blackberry, black cherry and a tease of crushed rock, with lasting hints of mocha and tobacco. This vineyard-designate is worthy of cellaring for the long haul. Enjoy best from 2027 through 2037.
