Wine reviews
A sleek, polished style, with an alluring beam of cassis, boysenberry coulis and plum reduction flavors, inlaid with anise and black tea notes. The grip is completely embedded in the fruit. Seriously long. Drink now through 2034. 825 cases made. – J.M
The deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr Crane Vineyard features beautiful violets, rose hip tea and mossy bark scents over a core of ripe blackcurrants, black cherries and plum preserves with touches of mocha, iron ore and Indian spices. Full-bodied and wonderfully balanced in the mouth, the palate delivers layer upon layer of black fruits, earth and exotic spices notions with a firm, velvety frame and epically long, mineral-laced finish. 825 cases produced. – LPB
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard is very, very young but it has all the qualities that make wines from this site so compelling. Lifted, perfumed and gracious, the 2016 is all finesse. This is one of the finest, young Dr. Crane Cabernets I have tasted with Paul Hobbs in some years. – Antonio Galloni
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr Crane Vineyard (a barrel sample) has a beguiling nose of fragrant earth, incense, cedar chest and unsmoked tobacco over a core of blackcurrant cordial, blackberry pie and pencil lead. Full-bodied, concentrated and drop-dead gorgeous in the mouth, it features an impressive array of black fruit and spice layers with commendably ripe, velvety tannins and great freshness, finishing long with the earthy nuances coming through. It is anticipated that 750 cases will be made. – LPB
