Wine reviews
The only 2016 I was able to taste, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III comes from a tiny 1.9-acre parcel in this valley floor site and spent 23 months in 75% new French oak. Deep purple-colored, with notes of crème de cassis, dried smoke tobacco, lead pencil, and toasted spices, this fabulous Cabernet hits the palate with full-bodied richness and depth, sweet tannins, a seamless texture, and a great, great finish. It can be drunk today or cellared for two decades or more. – JD
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 23 months in 75% new French oak, is deep garnet-purple colored with lovely cassis, black plums, earth, cedar, tobacco and bay leaves with menthol hints. The palate is full-bodied, firm, grainy and super intense with layers of black fruit and a long minted finish. 300 cases produced. – LPB
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in French oak for 23 months, 75% new. Deep garnet-purple in color, it springs from the glass with exuberant notions of warm cassis, Black Forest cake, plum preserves and blueberry compote with fragrant wafts of violets, menthol and chocolate box. Full-bodied and decadently fruited, with a wonderfully plush texture, it has bags of spicy black fruit flavors and a very long finish. 300 cases were made. – LPB
