Wine reviews
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kolan Vineyard The G.T.O. comes from all three of Mark Carter’s To Kalon parcels: The Three Kings, G.T.O, and The Grand Daddy. It's a heavenly wine offering killer aromas and flavors of creme de cassis, graphite, camphor, cigar tobacco, and spice. More open and opulent than the three other To Kalon cuvées, it's full-bodied, incredibly decadent, and as seamless and sexy as it gets, with an expansive, layered texture, a rocking mid-palate, sweet tannin, and a huge finish. It's one of those truly gorgeous wines that offer sensational, almost over the top decadence yet never seems heavy, cumbersome, or too much. Don't miss it! – JD
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon The G T O is very deep purple-black in color. Bam! Out of the gate it produces an incredibly alluring nose of freshly crushed black cherries, blackberry compote, blackcurrant cordial and licorice with nuances of violets, fertile loam, black truffles, unsmoked cigars and a waft of beef drippings. Big, full-bodied and powerful in the mouth—without the least bit of heaviness—the palate gives an aweinspiring array of earth, black fruit preserves and floral layers, supported by a rock-solid frame of ripe, grainy tannins, finishing epically long and with fantastic freshness. This is To Kalon giving its all! – LPB
