The 2016 Cabernet Franc Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard (a barrel sample) has a deep garnet-purple color and offers up a drop dead gorgeous perfume of violets, lavender and crushed red currants with a core of wild blueberries and mulberries, plus exotic spice nuances of star anise, fenugreek and cardamom. Full-bodied and wonderfully layered, balanced and complex in the mouth even at this nascent stage, it features very firm, very fine ripe tannins and bags of freshness, finishing with epically long spice layers.
