2015 The Debate Cabernet Sauvignon
Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard
The Wine Advocate 98 Points
October 2017

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard sports a deep garnet-purple color and earthy/broody nose of blackberry preserves, beef drippings, charcoal and plum pudding plus hints of forest floor, cedar box and stewed tea. Big, full-bodied and full-on powerful on the palate, this is a wine that won’t disappoint the hedonists! It wears the rich, generous fruit well, with firm, velvety tannins and just enough freshness to frame the fruit, finishing with epic length. – LPB

The star of the three 2015s is the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon and this sensational wine is pure perfection in the glass. Offering an off-the-charts bouquet of blueberries, black cherries, incense, graphite, cigar wrapper, and flowers, it’s ripe, unctuous and gorgeously concentrated on the palate, all while staying ethereal, elegant and seamless, with no weight or heaviness. Utterly sensational stuff, it’s already a joy to drink, yet is going to benefit from 3-4 years of cellaring and keep for two decades or more. Given its power and richness paired with an incredible elegance, it reminds me of the 2009 Haut Bailly. Bravo! – JD
