Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Bourn Vineyard—a barrel sample—reveals a very deep purple-black color and nose of freshly crushed blackberries and black currant with nuances of fragrant soil, dried leaves, beef drippings and crushed rocks, plus wafts of bay leaves and cloves. Full-bodied and led by a firm structure of grainy tannins and great freshness in the mouth, it offers loads of earthy mineral layers, following through on the long, understated and finely played finish.
