A barrel sample, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard opens with a very deep purple-black color and intense scents of plum preserves, blueberry compote and crème de cassis with suggestions of Indian spices, Marmite toast and sautéed herbs. Big, powerful, rich and full-throttle in the mouth, the voluptuous fruit is well framed by firm, grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and spicy. – LPB
