Wine reviews
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard shows blackberries, blueberries, is mineral-laced and a superb terroir offering up another great effort in 2014. It is full-bodied, opulent, rich, and certainly looks to be one of the superstars of the vintage. Carter Cellars has been on a qualitative tear in tastings I’ve done over the last 4-5 years, so it was with great anticipation and high expectations I sat down to taste the 2013s and barrel samples of the 2014s given what Mark Carter had achieved not only in 2012, but even in more challenging vintages such as 2011. Fasten your seatbelts!-RP
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard is fabulous and one of my favorites from Mark Carter, Unfortunately only two barrels from this St. Helena vineyard were produced. Awesome concentration, killer aromatics of pen ink, spring flowers, crushed rock, blueberry and blackberry fruit are followed by a full-bodied wine built like a skyscraper with terrific purity, depth and overall balance. This is a fabulous effort to drink over the next 20+ years.-RP
