2014 Carter Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon The Three Kings
Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard
Wine Spectator 93 Points
August 2017

Pure, rich and even delicate for the size and depth, with layers of blackberry, licorice and anise flavors, light toasty oak and a pleasing suppleness and subtlety on the aftertaste that forces you to pay close attention. Drink now through 2033. 248 cases made. – JL

There are 248 cases of Carter’s 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon The Three Kings, made from clone 7 from that first-growth vineyard in Oakville. This is a supple-textured, blockbuster wine, with notes of Asian spice, licorice, espresso bean, chocolate and oodles of blackberry and cassis fruit. It is fleshy and succulent on the attack and midpalate, very concentrated with velvety tannin and a long, 45+- second finish. This is a beauty and should provide sumptuous consumption for at least another 20 years. - RP
