2014 Carter Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon The Grand Daddy
Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard
Wine Advocate 95-97 Points
December 2015

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard The Grand Daddy is another prodigious effort from Carter. Unbelievable fruit quality, blueberries, blackberries, spring flowers, you name it, it’s everything one could ever want in a great world-class, complex Cabernet Sauvignon. Add silky tannins and full-bodied opulence and a killer finish, and you’ve got a prodigious effort in 2014. Carter Cellars has been on a qualitative tear in tastings I’ve done over the last 4-5 years, so it was with great anticipation and high expectations I sat down to taste the 2013s and barrel samples of the 2014s given what Mark Carter had achieved not only in 2012, but even in more challenging vintages such as 2011. Fasten your seatbelts!-RP

Distinctive for the melted black licorice, blackberry, anise and cedary road tar flavors, this adds up to a mouthful of plush Cabernet that's rich and persistent, with a long, full finish. Drink now through 2034. 202 cases made. –JL
