2014 Bure Family Wines Cabernet Sauvignon
Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard
The Wine Advocate 97 Points
October 2016

A real show-stopper is the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Duration, which has some Cabernet Franc in the blend and comes principally from the Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard. This is a large-scale, savory, dense purple wine with notes of forest floor, white flowers, crème de cassis and graphite, followed by a full-bodied, dense, multilayered Cabernet Sauvignon with low acidity, sweet tannin and unmistakable wet gravel/crushed rock minerality. This opulent, voluptuously textured wine should drink beautifully for 15-20 or more years. Russian-American NHL hockey player Valeri Bure has moved to Napa Valley to enjoy the Shangri-la lifestyle. He hired Luc Morlet as his winemaking consultant. The first wines I tasted from Bure were the fabulous 2013s, and he has followed that up with strong efforts in 2014.
