Offers a rustic outline of dusty earth and crushed rock flavors, with gravelly dark berry notes at the core. Shows more structure than flesh for now, but this is focused and persistent. Drink now through 2024. 150 cases made. – JL

From another highly regarded site, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras exhibits sweet loamy soil undertones, plenty of red and black fruits, and hints of charcoal, espresso roast and subtle barbecue smoke. There is a distinctive, earthy terroir character to this Cabernet that should drink well for 15-20 years. - RP
