The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon displays suppressed aromatics, although some red and black fruit notes fight their way through. In the mouth, it is the lightest effort I have ever tasted from this first-growth site. What’s there is pleasant, but the wine has no core, depth or finish. There is no question that this winery can do a lot better than these 2010s and 2011s. The delicious Sauvignon Blancs from Provenance are exceptionally well made. Both the non-estate and the Estate possess lots of exotic fruit intermixed with hints of delicate pineapples, figs and mangoes. - RP
