2009 Paul Hobbs Cabernet Sauvignon
Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard
Wine Spectator 94 Points
June 2012

This sumptuous, open-throttle red displays dense, dark berry fruit and cedary oak flavors that are pure, rich and focused. Impressive for its range of flavor, graceful balance, supple tannins and nice length. Best from 2013 through 2023. 473 cases made. - J.L.

The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard is deep, seductive and powerful. It shows stunning richness and intensity, with layers of dark red fruit, smoke, licorice and tobacco in a style that is very expressive but not at all heavy. The 2009 is Clone 4. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029. Absolutely spectacular and unquestionably one of the candidates for the Cabernet Sauvignon of the vintage is the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard. The terroir characteristics of hot rocks, pebbles, gravel, burning embers and sweet black currant and blackberry fruit jump from the glass of this shockingly intense, rich 2009.
