Wine reviews
The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon is a big, fleshy wine endowed with tons of textural richness and sheer depth. Layers of fruit flow across the palate in this large-scaled, dramatic Cabernet. This should be accessible relatively early. The open, radiant personality of the vintage is on full display. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.
A robust effort that delivers a big, rich array of flavors with a measure of restraint, offering dense, chewy coconut oak, blackberry, black licorice, spice and cedar. Best from 2014 through 2024. 184 cases made. –JL
Waves of super-ripe black fruit, incense, smoke and tobacco emerge from the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon, a rich voluptuous wine loaded with personality. Hints of chocolate, mocha, cloves and new leather develop as the wine sits in the glass, adding further personality and complexity. Today, the 2009 is pure exuberance, but it should settle down a bit with further time in bottle. Still, there is plenty to admire in this powerful, intense Cabernet Sauvignon. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. -AG
