The 2009 Red Blend Frontier Justice is the most backward and brooding of these three wines from Bounty Hunter. Huge black fruit, smoke, incense, violets, tar and a host of exotic aromas and flavors all jump from the glass. Mocha, chocolate and cloves add complexity on the finish. The Red Blend is 90% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from Dr. Crane and To Kalon, two great Napa Valley sites. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. Winemaker Timothy Milos delivers the goods with these fabulous 2009s and 2010s. The top wines, which are made from To Kalon and Dr. Crane fruit, are aged in 100% new oak barrels. From top to bottom, this is an impressive set of wines that deserves serious attention. - AG
