2005 Realm Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Dr. Crane
Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard
Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar 91 Points
May/June 2008

Bright ruby-red. Scented aromas of red cherry, flowers and tobacco. Sweet, lush and creamy, in a distinctly soft, fruit-driven style. There’s very good fat to the flavors of red cherry and raspberry. A concentrated, sexy wine that finishes with pliant, sweet tannins. This one spent just 25 days on its skins, while the other 2005s here got up to 45 days of maceration, noted winemaker Mike Hirby

Intense, fresh, vibrant and concentrated, with a rich, plush push of zesty currant, wild berry and raspberry flavors shaded by anise, black licorice, cedar and mineral notes. Ends with a nice gently tannic grip. Best from 2010 through 2017. 558 cases made. – J.L.
