Innovation, Quality & Sustainability
Rigorous evaluations of adaptation strategies provide us with valuable insights for increasing the resilience of the wine industry and will allow the wine community to take its place as a sustainability leader.
INNOVATION
Pioneering farming innovation since the company’s inception in 1970, Beckstoffer developed vineyard drip irrigation and was an early adopter of closer vine spacing, leaf thinning, and bench grafting practices. Through our ongoing research to improve grape quality and resiliency in a changing climate, we have implemented new technologies to monitor and analyze vine health, productivity, and vineyard efficiency. Adopting these new technologies and practices allows Beckstoffer Vineyards and our Northern California winery clients to remain consistent producers of many of the best wines in the world.
QUALITY
Beckstoffer Vineyards is the unrivaled leader in exceptional grape growing due to our unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and a profound understanding of our vineyards. Our viticultural team employs state-of-the-art technology and dedicates themselves to nurturing the vines throughout the growing seasons, yielding optimal fruit development. The result is a collection of vineyards that consistently yield grapes of unparalleled quality, coveted by renowned winemakers for crafting expressive and exceptional wines. Through our unwavering commitment to quality and profound respect for the land, Beckstoffer Vineyards is an icon of excellence in farming.
SUSTAINABILITY
Guided by a deep respect for the land and a commitment to environmental stewardship and land preservation, we have long embraced sustainable farming practices that harmoniously balance the needs of our vineyards with those of our changing planet.
In 1997, Beckstoffer Vineyards was recognized by the state of California as an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) “IPM Innovator.” IPM practices were the early forerunner to environmental sustainability best practices that followed. In 2004, Beckstoffer Vineyards became certified “Sustainable” through the Fish Friendly Farming program.
We meticulously manage our vineyards to preserve soil health, conserve water, and sequester carbon. We are champions of biodiversity and minimizing our carbon footprint through no-till farming, composting, cover crops, and our electric Monarch Tractors and Fischer under-vine mowers. Our dedication to sustainability and carbon sequestration ensures that our vineyards will remain resilient and yield fruit of exceptional quality for generations to come.
