Intense, with vibrant, focused red and dark berry fruit, featuring notes of cherry, mocha, loamy earth, cedar, anise and tobacco. Delightfully complex, smooth and persistent, elegant and detailed, presenting a firm, tannic backbone. Best from 2014 through 2025. – JL
If built along the tougher, more- structured lines that seem universal in Janzen’s 2010 Cabernets, this solid effort sports a deep and nicely concentrated core of rich, well defined fruit and is never in danger of succumbing to unresolvable tannins. Yes, it is gruff, and it is quite astringent just now, but all that stands between it and success is a decade of rest in the cellar.
