Wine reviews
Winemaker Julien Fayard builds on the success of his 2015 with a stellar edition of his Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer-Missouri Hopper in 2016. Powerful and imposing in the glass, the 2016 offers a compelling interplay of intense dark fruit and the freshness that is such a signature of this vintage. At the end of the day, it comes down to site, site, site. This is a jewel of a wine. – Antonio Galloni
Very deep purple-black in color, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Missouri Hopper (a barrel sample) features bold notions of crushed blackcurrants, warm blackberries and wild blueberries with hints of violets, iron ore and pencil lead, plus dried Provence herbs and cigar box nuances. Full-bodied, taut, muscular and firm, it has a rock-solid frame of grainy tannins and lovely freshness, finishing long and earthy. – LPB
