Wine reviews
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from clone 337 and a site on the western valley floor in Oakville. Whoever gets fruit from this vineyard always seems to get a mixture of aromatic and flavor dimensions into their wine, which speaks to its first-growth quality. Spicy, dense, blackcurrant fruit, cedar wood, graphite and Christmas fruitcake are followed by a broad, inky, opulent fullthrottle wine with fabulous fruit intensity, purity and length. It should drink well for 25-30+.-RP Owner Susan Boswell exploits some of the finest terroirs in the Napa Valley, working with French winemaking consultant Philippe Melka. These are all expensive, but impressive wines. Don’t forget, although I didn’t taste them on this trip, Susan Boswell also produces Chardonnay from the famous Russian River Ritchie Vineyard and Pinot Noir from Rita’s Crown in the Santa Rita Hills
