Wine reviews
The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard has come together nicely since I tasted it last year. The slightly raw edges that were present in barrel are now gone, and what emerges from the glass is Cabernet that is surprisingly sensual and delicate for this Oakville site. Sweet red cherry jam, floral and spice notes all develop with air, but it is the wine's textural feel that is most distinctive in 2015. – Antonio Galloni
Deep purple-black in color, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard opens with seducing notes of crushed black currants, blueberry compote and dried mulberries with hints of spice cake, sandalwood, dried roses and star anise plus a touch of smoked meats. Full-bodied, rich, ripe and densely packed, the opulent fruit is superbly framed by velvety tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with lingering spice layers. 758 cases were made. – LPB
Plump and juicy, this wine transcends fruit purity to reveal elements of finesse and nuance. The best times lie ahead. Best from 2020 through 2032. 758 cases made. – J.L.
