2013 Memento Mori Cabernet Sauvignon
Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard
Wine Spectator 95 Points
October 2016

Strikingly complex, dense and detailed, featuring a core of rich, saturated dark berry, light mocha, graphite, fresh earth and savory herb flavors, all neatly proportioned. Shows a supple grace to the texture and mouthfeel as this glides along on the finish, with fine-grained, dusty tannins. Drink now through 2030. 655 cases made. - JL

Winemaker and proprietor Sam Kaplan is behind this absolutely brilliant 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, which is a composite blend from three famous Napa vineyards B Weitz, Las Piedras, and Dr. Crane, the last two owned by the ubiquitous and omnipresent Andy Beckstoffer. A wine of great intensity, voluptuous, full-bodied texture, tremendous blueberry and blackberry fruit, with white flowers, charcoal embers and spice, the wine has superb texture, a multi-dimensional mouthfeel, and a finish that goes on for close to 50 seconds. The tannins are creamy and ripe, and the wine irresistible already. Drink it over the next 30 years. This is brilliant! - RP
