Wine reviews
Sourced from Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper’s C and D Blocks, this B. Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon was aged for 28 months in 75% new French oak. Positively bold and opulent in 2023, it shows expressive blue-fruit and espresso bean notes that will resolve into darker black fruit tones with time in bottle. The wine is supported by supple, generous tannins, with a saline mineral undercurrent helping to keep everything lively, bright and fresh. Savory notes emerge in the glass, redolent of black truffle, charcuterie, and redwood spice.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper leaps from the glass with vivacious scents of blueberry preserves, warm cassis, and stewed black cherries, opening out to an undercurrent of dried Provence herbs, iron ore, and underbrush. The full-bodied palate is packed solid with muscular black fruit preserves layers, supported by firm, lightly chewy tannins and a lively line, finishing long and savory.
From a cooler valley floor site in the southern part of the Oakville appellation, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper offers tons of blue fruits, graphite, crushed stone, and sappy herbal and floral nuances. Aged 26 months in 100% new French oak, it's full-bodied on the palate, with ripe, building tannins, a pure, layered mouthfeel, and outstanding length. I love its purity and freshness.
