Wine reviews
Another beautiful wine from this estate, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard offers ripe black fruits, dark chocolate, graphite, and freshly sharpened pencils. Aged 26 months in 100% new French oak barrels, it's full-bodied and concentrated, with ripe, firmer tannins, notable purity and precision, and a gorgeous finish.
Sourced from Beckstoffer Georges III in Rutherford, just across the Silverado Trail from Upper Range and adjacent to Caymus, this vineyard sits on volcanic soils that have fallen from Pritchard Hill over millennia, interwoven with sedimentary river soils from the Napa River. The wine is aged for 28 months in 100% new French oak. A powerful and lifted expression of this famous vineyard, it reveals rich loamy earth, espresso bean notes and gravelly tannins, alongside savoury tobacco and sage on the firm, resolute finish.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) flies out with gregarious notes of black cherry compote, blueberry preserves, and crème de cassis, opening out to reveal hints of eucalyptus, tapenade, and fragrant soil. The full-bodied palate is laden with juicy black fruit layers and a velvety texture, featuring a refreshing line and a long, fragrant finish.
