2014 Alpha Omega Cabernet Sauvignon
Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard is the star of the show and is a sensational wine at every level. Possessing incredible opulence and purity, as well as full-bodied richness, a thick, unctuous texture, and a huge mid-palate, it offers a kaleidoscope of crème de cassis, blueberries, smoked tobacco, white chocolate, and lead pencil aromas and flavors. Made in a fat, seductive style, it nevertheless is elegant and silky, with ripe tannin, perfect balance and a great, great finish. It’s one of the gems in this vintage and will keep for another 2-3 decades. - JD

The fourth Beckstoffer vineyard-sourced wine is the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard. As I’ve said many times throughout this report, this is one of my favorite sites in Napa. There is something Haut Brion or La Mission Haut Brion-ish in this wine due to the wet gravel, stony minerality that it possesses. The 2014 from Alpha Omega has enormous graphite notes intermixed with blackberry liqueur, blueberry fruit as well as black raspberry and cassis. It is opaque purple and full-bodied, with a multidimensional personality and killer finish of close to one minute. This wine should go on for another 30 or more years.- RP
