A blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot aged mostly in new oak, the 2016 Frontier Justice Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard comes from one of the gem vineyards in the valley, which I might add also excelled in the 2016 vintage. This deeply colored effort gives up voluptuous amounts of ripe cherry and currant fruits, ample spice, cedar, and incense nuances, a fleshy, full-bodied, sexy texture, and a great finish. A wine that packs some serious depth of fruit and intensity into a beautifully balanced, weightless package, this sensational juice can be drunk any time over the coming 2-3 decades. – JD
The 2016 Red Blend Frontier Justice Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard is a blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Deep purple-black colored, it opens with notes of baked cherries, stewed plums and blueberry pie plus hints of sautéed herbs, scorched earth, fruitcake and hoisin. Full-bodied and laden with spicy baked berries flavors, it has a chewy texture and just enough freshness to lift the finish. – LPB
