Wine reviews
The 2015 barrel samples show the wonderful, pure, deep, fleshy and succulent fruit that this vintage showcases in abundance. The tiny yields and great ripeness have combine to portend a great, great vintage for Bordeaux varieties, as well as others in Northern California. The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr Crane Vineyard offers up enormous quantities of blueberry liqueur intermixed with graphite, pen ink and white flowers. This is a beautiful, rich, full-bodied, opulent wine that I have actually drunk from barrel. This should turn out to be uncommonly gorgeous in its youth and age nicely for up to two decades.-RP
The 175-case 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard checks in as 100% Cabernet Sauvignon (aged all in new oak) that offers that classic, earthy, darker style that seems to be the hallmark of this incredible site. Black licorice, darker fruits, scorched earth, leafy herbs and tobacco all give way to a full-bodied, unctuous, concentrated beauty that shines for its purity, depth and texture. It’s a brilliant example of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon to enjoy over the coming 20-25 years. – JD
