Wine reviews
The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon To Kalon Lithology could push perfection if it continues to evolve the way it seems to be heading. Loads of truffle, crème de cassis, licorice, lead pencil shavings, vanilla and espresso are all present in this multi-dimensional, extremely complex, full-bodied, terrific wine. It should drink well when accessible, given its succulence and opulence that is such a characteristic of 2015, and evolve for 15 -25 years.- RP
Black cherry, plum, mocha, spice and new leather meld together in the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Lithology Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard. Plush, deep and inviting, the 2015 has a lot to offer. This is a gorgeous wine from Alejandro Bulgheroni. Hopefully, the team will be able to make a Cabernet that is more representative of To Kalon in the future, but this is nevertheless a hugely attractive wine. – Antonio Galloni
Very deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Lithology Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon is scented of crème de cassis, blueberry pie and plum preserves with hints of cinnamon toast, dusty earth and bouquet garni plus a waft of dried lavender. Full-bodied, expressive and with bags of poise, the palate features wonderfully ripe, spicy fruit with a lively backbone and a very long, velvet-laced finish. 150 cases were made. – LPB
An expansive style that unfolds to tiers of dark berry, anise, licorice, sage and light oak flavors, with firm, fine-grain tannins woven into the fabric, ending with savory dried sage and berry notes. Drink now through 2028. 150 cases made. – J.L.
